He said TATA to a lucrative job to open a kirana store Two years back, Sandeep Agarwal was working with Tata consultancy as an engineer in Bangalore city. But it was because of his desire to work in his own family business in Jaipur in a different way, that he left the job and decided to start an online kirana store. Now, he is working with his brother to sell grocery items through his own online portal. Their venture, titled Pinkcitykirana.com currently has a delivery van and 20 staff members to fulfill the everyday demands of consumers. Now every day they process around 70 to 90 orders which are placed online. It amounts to around 2500 to 3000 fulfilled orders in a month, while the minimum order rate is order Rs 800. This is probably the first e- kirana store in Jaipur. According to a study on e kirana stores, in Delhi and Bombay around 40 per cent kirana stores function online. “One year back when I stated my online e kirana store with my brother, my father was not happy as he thought that I was wasting money. But now after a year, the situation has changed and he also is optimistic about e- stores,” said Sandeep Agarwal, owner PinkcityKirana.com. “From the start of the e-store, every month I purchase my ration via online and I am happy because it saves my time, petrol and also the parking problems”, said Dimple Soni a regular buyer of online kirana store. |
